DC Power Centers

The Power Center provides a convenient and safe method of connecting all of the various Direct Current sources (e.g., wind & solar), battery strings, and loads (e.g., inverters & DC distribution panels) together.  On the BWC Excel-R the Power Center can be integrated with the OptiCharge controller.  On the BWC XL.1 the Power Center comes standard.

 

Battery Strings                                     Battery Price List
BWC sells batteries in "strings" of the standard voltages (12, 24, 48, 120 & 240 VDC) and capacity (AH or ampere-hours).  A 48 VDC string might, for example, contain eight 6 VDC batteries which would be connected in series.

Consumer Type

These battery strings use the Trojan T-105 (220 AH) and L-16 (350 AH), or equivalent, deep-cycle flooded-cell lead-acid  batteries.

  Pro:  Best value !

  Pro:  Easier to transport (less heavy)

  Con: Requires more frequent filling with distilled water

  Con: Somewhat shorter expected cycle life

These batteries are recommended for most applications.

Commercial Type

These battery strings use the GNB Re-Source Commander, or equivalent, deep-cycle flooded-cell lead-acid batteries.

  Pro:  Larger AH capacities possible

  Pro:  Somewhat longer expected cycle life

  Con:  Requires filling with distilled water

  Con:  Harder to transport

 

Industrial / Telecom Type

These battery strings use the GNB Absolyte IIP, or equivalent, deep-cycle gel-cell (sealed) lead-acid batteries.

  Pro:  Maintenance-free

  Pro:  Freeze-tolerance

  Con:  Expensive

  Con:  Harder to transport
